Two hot topics in eating habits that come up a lot with my clients, students, community are Carbs and Snacks. I hear these questions all the time: 

  • Should I avoid eating carbs or snacks if I’m looking to get back in shape? 
  • Should I stop snacking on nuts and fruit if I’m always going over carbs & fat when tracking my macros?
  • Should I eat a snack before a workout? After? Both? 

It can get really frustrating trying to sift through all of the recommendations out there, and then compare to what’s worked for you, your friends, or even strangers on the Internet.

One of the biggest mistakes you can do is create an unhealthy relationship with food by overthinking certain foods or over-restricting certain foods. That mindset will only cause you to make the excuse to eat even MORE of what you said you “shouldn’t” eat.

That’s why I invited Chicago-based Registered Dietitian Morgan Murdock from the HealthLoft on today’s show.

2020 Self-Discovery Journey

I don’t know about you guys, but I have been going through some SERIOUS self-discovery over the past few MONTHS!

  • MARCH: Quarantine began
  • APRIL: Back in Episode 2 of The Inside Out Wellness Podcast I mentioned my physical-turned- mental downward spiral in April;
  • MAY: Which was followed by a pretty inspiring & momentum-filled May, where I took what I learned from the gloomy April;
  • JUNE: And NOW, in light of the heightened awareness around the racism our neighbors have been facing their entire lives, and will be fearing for the rest of their lives, and their children’s live …  I have been unexpectedly MOVED y’all. 

I went from completely in the dark to wholeheartedly enlightened and THIRSTY for more knowledge & wisdom. I’ve shared on my Instagram @wholehardy the podcasts I’ve been listening to and books I’ve been reading. 

What About Your 2020 Self-Discovery Journey?

I know I’m only one small spec on this planet, but that’s how it starts guys. I’m up for the challenge to be part of the solution, and I encourage you to do the same! In light of the MAJOR, life-altering crises that have occurred so far in 2020, it took some time for me to really process the bigger picture of how these massive circumstances will not only change our lives forever externally, but also internally.

While I’m not the right authority to educate you on on racism or viruses, I am the right authority to educate you on mental wellness & thought management – during times of both crisis and normalcy – guiding you to work from the inside out to create a healthier MIND so you can build your healthiest SELF.
